Origin and history

The bridge over the Salon is located in Montot, in the department of Haute-Saône, in Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Originally built in the 17th century with five arches, it was enlarged in 1765 by the addition of two additional arches under the direction of Jean-Charles Colombot. The fore-beeks of the added arches, more imposing than those of origin, create a visible landing marking the extension of the building. This bridge, characteristic with its seven arches in the middle, is located at the foot of the village, on the road leading to Delain.

In 1788 repairs were undertaken according to the plans of Anatole Amoudru, thus consolidating the structure. The building, owned by the commune, testifies to the techniques of construction and adaptation of rural bridges to the increasing traffic needs at that time. Its designation as a historical monument in 1978 underlines its heritage importance, both for its architecture and for its role in local history.
