Origin and history
The fountain-lavoir de Fallon, located in the Haute-Saône department in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, was built between 1763 and 1764 according to the plans of the architect bisontin Jean-Charles Colombot. This monument consists of an imperial roof drawer, a waterworks and a rectangular washer lined up for about 20 meters. In the 19th century, a hall was added to protect lavender, reflecting the evolution of local usage.
Ranked a historic monument in 1988, this wash fountain illustrates 18th century utility architecture, combining functionality (water supply, laundry, livestock watering) and rural aesthetics. Its conservation status and ranking underscore its heritage importance in the region.
The monument is now owned by Fallon municipality. Its precise location, 2 Rue de la Mairie, and its Insee code (70226) confirm its anchoring in the historical landscape of Haute-Saône. Available sources (Wikipedia, Monumentum) also mention its inclusion in the departmental lists of protected fountains and monuments.
