Façades and roofs of the ensemble formed by the chapel and the buildings of the farm (cad. A 150, 164): registration by order of 27 October 1971
Origin and history
Cambron Farm, located in the municipality of Bermeries, is a monument listed in the inventory of Historical Monuments. The facades and roofs of the whole, including the chapel and agricultural buildings, were protected by ministerial decree in 1971. This site illustrates the traditional rural architecture of the region, with particular attention to the conservation of its built heritage.
Although the precise historical details of its construction or its occupants are lacking, this type of farm was generally at the heart of the economic and social life of the countryside of Nord-Pas-de-Calais. Farms of this size played a key role in the community organisation, combining agricultural, religious (via chapel) and sometimes craft activities. Their preservation bears witness to the importance attached to this vernacular heritage in the Hauts-de-France.
