Origin and history

Tremblay Camp, located in Verneuil-en-Halatte, is a monument dating back to ancient times. This archaeological site, whose upper platform has been listed as Historic Monument since May 4, 1950, illustrates the strategic importance of the region during this period. The remains, although partially localized, provide an overview of the defensive or residential facilities of the time.

In antiquity, the Hauts-de-France, then integrated into Gaul, were marked by varied human occupations, ranging from rural settlements to fortified sites. Camps such as Tremblay's could serve as refuges, territorial checkpoints or community activity centres. Their presence reflects a complex social and military organization, adapted to the needs of local populations and geopolitical issues of the time.
