Origin and history

The chapel of Confreria Sainte-Croix (Santa-Croce) is a historic monument located in Poggio-Marinaccio, Corsica. Built in the 17th century, it has been listed as a Historic Monument since 2017, with extensive protection in 2019. It is closely linked to the parish church of Saint-Blaise, although it is excluded from certain protections.

The chapel, with its seat plot, was classified by ministerial decree on January 13, 2017, after a first inscription in 2016. A second decree, dated November 29, 2019, extended this protection to the entire church of Saint-Blaise and the chapel, including the floor. These measures are aimed at preserving an emblematic religious heritage in the region.

The location of the chapel is estimated with a priori satisfactory accuracy (note of 6/10), according to available data. Owned by the municipality of Poggio-Marinaccio, its access and uses (visits, rentals, etc.) are not specified in the sources consulted. The chapel illustrates the importance of religious brotherhoods in Corsica in modern times, often associated with practices of collective devotion and the management of local affairs.
