Origin and history

The house at 9 Rue de la Rodade in Clermont-Ferrand is a historical monument built in the 15th century. This building illustrates the architectural evolution of this period, with a ground floor dating from the beginning of the century and floors completed towards its end. The sculptural details, such as lintels and ground berries, reflect the local craftsmanship of the era.

The ground floor features a rectangular door with pillars and lintel adorned with a cellar, as well as two bays in basket handle, also ground. A notable feature is the presence of stone tablets serving as a storehouse, one of which, partially free, allowed easy access. These elements suggest an ancient commercial vocation, typical of medieval urban houses.

Classified as a Historic Monument since 1954, this house is protected for its facade and roofing on street. Its inscription demonstrates its heritage importance, although its exact location is considered to be of poor accuracy (level 5/10). Available sources, such as Monumentum, confirm its status as an emblematic element of the Clermont heritage.
