Origin and history
The house located at 13 Pelvoysin Street in Bourges is a typical example of medieval civil architecture in wooden strips, dating from the hinge of the 15th and 16th centuries. Its structure is distinguished by a moulded sandstone supported by four capitals based on nerve columns. The filling pieces, composed of oblique scarves, form a diamond pattern characteristic of this period.
Classified as a Historic Monument since 1931 for its facade and roof, this house illustrates the know-how of the carpenters of the period. Architectural details, such as columns and geometric patterns, reflect the influence of late Gothic and early Renaissance styles. Private property, it bears witness to bourgeois urban planning in Bourges, a prosperous city at the turn of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
The approximate location (15 Pelvoysin Street) and the map accuracy considered "passable" (note 5/10) suggest a partial identification of the structure. Available sources (Monumentum, Merimée base) confirm its registration as Historical Monuments, without specifying its current use (visit, rental, or residence).
