The wooden house on 9 Pelvoysin Street in Bourges is a representative example of the civil architecture of the late Middle Ages, at the hinge of the 15th and 16th centuries. This building, classified as a Historical Monument, illustrates the constructive techniques of the period, with a ground floor on vaulted cellar, a floor and a top. Its structure, consisting of a strip of openwork vertical wood and regularly spaced chevrons, reflects the know-how of the local artisans.

The street façade and its roof were protected by a registration order in 1964, highlighting their heritage value. This house is part of a larger set of old buildings on Pelvoysin Street, bearing witness to the medieval urbanism of Bourges. Although its GPS location is approximate (accuracy noted as fair), it remains an accessible vestige of the city's architectural past.

Wood-paned houses like this were mainly used as housing for the bourgeois or local artisans. Their wooden structure, often combined with torchi filling, allowed rapid and economical construction, while offering insulation adapted to the climate of the Centre-Val de Loire region. These buildings also played a social role, sometimes housing shops or workshops on the ground floor, thus contributing to the economic life of the city.
