Origin and history

This 16th-century house, originally located on Rue Vieille-Prison in Pons, was moved and rebuilt near the public garden. It bears witness to Renaissance civil architecture in this town of Charente-Maritime, now integrated into the New Aquitaine region. Its inscription in the inventory of Historic Monuments in 1925 specifically concerns its facade, highlighting its heritage interest.

The exact location of this monument, according to Merimée data, is the 7 Passage Glémet à Pons (code Insee 17283). Although geographical accuracy is considered poor (note 5/10), its administrative address and GPS coordinates allow it to be located in the historical centre. Owned by the municipality, this house could have a cultural or tourist vocation, although the sources do not specify its current use.

The protected elements are limited to the façade, as stipulated by the decree of 14 May 1925. No information is available on any historic owners, architects or significant events related to this building. The sources mention only its status as a Historical Monument and its reconstruction, without details of the circumstances of this displacement or its past occupation.
