Origin and history
Paray-le-Frésil's log house has been a historic monument since 1987. It once belonged to the rural estate of Marquis Desputt de Tracy, a notable figure of the early 19th century for his involvement in agricultural matters. This building illustrates the rural architecture of the bourbonese Sologne, with a body of housing unique in half-timbered and a frame of arches supported by outside consoles.
The building is distinguished by its southern façade, decorated with three wooden-framed windows, and a gable is equipped with a wooden platform giving access to the attic. This modest but representative structure of the peasant houses of the period was subsequently added. The structure, typical of Bourbonnais, reflects local wooden construction techniques.
Marquis Destutt de Tracy, owner of the site, was known for his interest in agriculture, a key area in this rural area. The house, although simple, bears witness to the lifestyles and craftsmanship of the Bourbonese Sologne in the 19th century, where wood-pan constructions were common for houses and outbuildings.
