Origin and history

The log house at 4-6 Rue de la Renarderie in Vendôme is a remarkable example of medieval civil architecture. Built between the 15th and 16th centuries, it is distinguished by its structure entirely made of wood, with a first floor in corbellation. Number 4 presents a second floor probably added later, illustrating a later architectural evolution.

This building was entered in the inventory of Historic Monuments by order of 31 October 1940, thus recognizing its heritage value. The wood-pan construction technique, common in the Middle Ages, reflects the craftsmanship of the time. The location in the centre of Vendôme, in Loir-et-Cher, suggests a role in medieval urban life, possibly linked to commercial or craft activities.

The accuracy of its location is considered satisfactory (note 7/10), and sources such as Monumentum and Mérimée confirm its exact address: 41100 Vendôme, in the region Centre-Val de Loire. No information is available on its current use (visit, rental, etc.), but its state of conservation and protection make it a valuable testimony to the vendômois heritage.
