Origin and history

Dole House is a suburban residence built in the 18th century, outside the old city walls. It is distinguished by its typical architecture of the period and its history linked to a French military figure, General Malet, born in these walls. Built in two phases, it took its final form in 1788, with a garden already structured in two terraces, reflecting the taste of the provincial elites for the exterior spaces arranged.

Classified as a Historic Monument, this home preserves remarkable elements such as its adorned house body, its fence wall, its gate and wrought iron gates. These architectural features, as well as its location on the outskirts of the ramparts, illustrate Dole's urban expansion in the Enlightenment century. Official protection, which took place by decree in 1996, specifically covers these heritage components.

Today owned by a private company, the house located at 11 rue du Général-Malet remains a testimony to local history and to the evolution of the lifestyles of the wealthy classes in Franche-Comté. Its state of conservation and its possible openness to the public (visits, rental, accommodation) are not specified in the available sources, but its registration to the heritage makes it a place of interest for lovers of regional history.
