Origin and history

La Maison Morel is a former convent of the Annonciades located in Bar-le-Duc, in the department of the Meuse (Great East region, former Lorraine). Built in the 2nd half of the 16th century, it illustrates the civil and religious Renaissance architecture of the region. Its sling windows and adorned chambranles testify to a refined craftsmanship for the time. The building, now unacralized, retains an emblematic façade on the Place de la Halle.

Morel House has been listed as a historic monument since 3 February 1988, a protection that specifically concerns its facade on the square and its corresponding roof. This official recognition underscores its heritage interest, linked to its convent history and architectural style. No information is available on any historic owners or sponsors, or on major post-construction changes.

The monument is located at 12 Place de la Halle, in the city centre of Bar-le-Duc. Its conservation status and current use (visit, rental, etc.) are not specified in available sources. The Merimée database and Creative Commons licenses (MOSSOT photos) do, however, document its existence, providing a visual and administrative trace for researchers and visitors.
