Origin and history
Villa Pezon is a bourgeois house located at 11-13 avenue de Royat in Chamalières, in Puy-de-Dôme. Built between 1879 and 1885, it illustrates the residential architecture of the late 19th century in Auvergne. Its sponsor, Théodore Pezon, director of menagerie and brother of Baptiste Pezon, made it his residence. The central part was completed between 1879 and 1880, followed by the east and west pavilions from 1884.
The villa was listed for historical monuments on 25 January 1999, including the house, its fence and its decorated vestibule. This protection allowed its preservation. The building, now privately owned, bears witness to the architectural heritage linked to the bourgeois boom and the entertainment activities of the time.
Some sources refer to a possible attribution to architect Tachet, although this information is not confirmed. The villa remains a representative example of the affluent residences of the region, mixing local influences and aesthetic ambitions of the end of the century.
