The facades and roofs including the stair turret on the courtyard (Box B 105): inscription by order of 7 August 1974

Origin and history

The house at 14 rue Pierre-Brossolette (formerly rue du Marché) in L'Arbresle is a 16th-century building. This monument, inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 7 August 1974, is distinguished by its facades, roofs and a staircase tower on courtyard. These architectural elements, typical of the Renaissance, reflect the know-how of the period in the Lyon region.

The Arbresle, located in the Rhône department, was at this time a dynamic locality, integrated with the commercial and artisanal exchanges of the region. The houses of that time often served as places of life, trade or craft for bourgeois families or merchants. Their preservation makes it possible today to understand the urban and architectural evolution of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

The protections applied to this monument relate specifically to facades, roofs and stair turret, as indicated in the Mérimée base. These elements, although partially located with an accuracy deemed "passable" (note 5/10), remain important evidence of the local built heritage. The house is always located at its historic address, confirmed by GPS coordinates and communal archives.
