Origin and history

The houses at numbers 69 and 71 of the rue de l'Hôpital-Militaire in Lille constitute a historic monument whose facades and roofs were inscribed by ministerial decree. Their official protection, dated 14 March 1977, underscores their architectural value in the urban landscape of Lille. These buildings illustrate the typical style of bourgeois or artisanal dwellings in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region.

The inscription under the title of Historical Monuments specifically concerns the elements visible from the street, i.e. facades and roofs. This preservation measure aims to maintain the authenticity of old buildings in a neighbourhood marked by the military and civil history of Lille. The precise location, although subject to a cartographic approximation (level 6/10), confirms their anchoring in the city centre, near former hospital or military sites.
