The facades from the rue de Paris, numbers 68-170-70bis: inscription by order of 12 February 1927
Origin and history
The facades of the houses located at numbers 168 and 170-170bis of the rue de Paris in Lille date from the seventeenth century. These architectural elements were moved and relocated to Louise-de-Bettignies Square, as evidenced by a letter from the CRMH dated October 29, 1985. Their preservation is part of an approach to safeguarding the urban heritage of Lille, characteristic of the modern era.
These facades, classified as Historic Monument by decree of 12 February 1927, represent an example of civil architecture of the Grand Century in the north of France. Their transfer reflects the urban evolution of Lille, where the conservation of the old building coexisted with the transformations of the city. Their current location, although noted as approximate (accuracy level 5/10), allows to observe a 17th century Lille fragment.
The Merimée base lists these facades at the current address of Place Louise-de-Bettignies, in the Northern Department (code Insee 59350). Their protection relates specifically to the elements from numbers 68, 170 and 170bis of the rue de Paris, highlighting their heritage value despite their displacement. No information is available on their accessibility to the public or their current use.
