Origin and history

The castle of Tauriers is a medieval building of which remains mainly a 13th century dungeon. This vestige of the Middle Ages is accompanied by a house built in the seventeenth century, thus illustrating two distinct periods of castral architecture. The castle is located on the town of Tauriers, in the department of Ardèche, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

The castle was listed as historic monuments by order of 28 September 1926, thus recognizing its heritage value. The castle gate is decorated with the arms and the comtal crown of the Comte de Tauriers family, attesting to its connection with this noble lineage. These architectural and heraldic elements are a historical and artistic testimony of the region.

Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, confirm its status as a protected monument and provide details of its precise location, such as its address at the ascent of the Castle in Tauriers. Although some practical information, such as openness to the visit, is not specified, its cultural and historical importance remains undeniable in the ardèche heritage.
