Origin and history
The houses of the Place Publique in Castelnau-de-Montmiral date from the 2nd quarter of the 17th century. Their stone construction illustrates the civil architecture of the period, with a ground floor opened by arched arches. These elements, combined with ground cross windows on the first floor, reflect local craftsmanship and a strong aesthetic will.
The first floor is distinguished by two triangular gable windows and two small square openings, while the second floor was subsequently redesigned, probably to accommodate modern needs. The ensemble, classified as Historical Monument since 1927 for its facade, bears witness to the importance of this place in the community life of Castelnau-de-Montmiral, medieval quagade of the Tarn.
The location, noted as passable (level 5/10), and the Merimée data confirm its anchoring in the heart of the village, on the Place Public (or Place des Arcades). Although the sources do not specify its current use, its listing as Historic Monuments underscores its heritage value, linked to the urban and architectural history of Occitanie.
