Origin and history

Beaumont-la-Ferrière Cemetery, located in the Nièvre department in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, is a monument built in the 18th century. This funeral place, typical of the French villages of the time, reflects the community and religious organization of rural society. Cemeteries then played a central role in the lives of the inhabitants, serving as both a memorial and a gathering place for religious and social ceremonies.

The entrance gate to the cemetery, located at Cadastre B 79, was listed as a Historical Monument by a decree of 27 March 1959. This classification reflects the heritage value of this architectural element, characteristic of cemetery closures during this period. The monument is now the property of Beaumont-la-Ferrière, whose Insee code is 58027.

Although information on its accessibility or current use is limited, its protected status makes it a significant part of the local heritage.
