Origin and history
The chapel of the Annonciade de Saint-Tropez is an emblematic monument located in the Var department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Built in the 17th and 18th centuries, it embodies the religious architecture of this period, marked by Baroque and classical influences. Its entrance gate, registered in 1947, bears witness to its early heritage importance.
Transformed into a museum, the former chapel now houses artistic collections within its two levels and its sacristy, all protected by a decree of 2024. The stairwell and museum installations are also part of the preserved elements, reflecting its evolution towards a cultural vocation. Owned by the municipality, it is associated with the Museum of the Annonciade, strengthening its role in valuing the local heritage.
The successive protections (1947 for the gate, 2024 for the whole building) underline its historical and architectural value. Its official address, 2 Place Georges Gramont, and its Insee code (83119) anchor the monument in the urban fabric of Saint-Tropez, emblematic of the French Riviera. The location data, although considered passable (note 5/10), identify its location between the rue de l'Annonciade and Place Gramont.
