The remaining parts of the former chapel (Box H 1553): inscription by decree of 22 March 1983

Origin and history

The chapel of La Dire, located in Saint-Michel-en-l'Herm (Vendée), is a religious building dating back to the twelfth century. This monument, partially preserved, illustrates the medieval architecture typical of the region. Its inscription in the title of Historical Monuments by decree of 22 March 1983 underlines its heritage importance, although only certain parts remain today (cadastral reference H 1553).

The site is located precisely at the following address: 1 Impasse de la Chapelle, in the commune of Saint-Michel-en-l'Herm (code Insee 85255). The GPS location, considered satisfactory (note 7/10), allows to identify its location in the Vendée department, in the Pays de la Loire region. No additional information is available on its current use (visit, rental, etc.), or on any modern facilities.

Available data from the Merimée database and Monumentum are limited to these descriptive and administrative elements. No mention is made of historical characters related to its construction, nor of any significant events being carried out. The building thus remains a silent testimony of local religious history, whose concrete details remain partially unknown.
