Origin and history
The Ursulines Chapel of Buis-les-Baronnies is a 17th-century religious monument built in the commune of Buis-les-Baronnies, in the Drôme department (26). This place of worship, typical of the architecture of its time, is distinguished by its Louis XIII style portal, the only element currently protected by the Historical Monuments.
The inscription of the portal by ministerial decree on 21 October 1926 underlines its heritage importance. Although available sources (including Monumentum) do not detail its complete history, its existence reflects the implantation of religious communities in Provencal Baronies in the modern era. These chapels often served as places of education or prayer for local people.
The location of the chapel at 1 Rue des Quiastres is attested by the Merimée bases and GPS coordinates, although the accuracy of this location is considered "passable" (note 5/10). No information is available about its current access to the public, its possible contemporary functions (visits, accommodation) or its detailed state of conservation.
