Origin and history
The Chapel Notre-Dame de l'Habit is a Catholic building located in Domfront-en-Champagne, in the Sarthe department, in the Pays de la Loire region. Built in the 15th century, it is located in the Habit, about 1.5 km northwest of Domfront-en-Champagne and 2.3 km southeast of Conlie. Its architecture and history bear witness to the medieval religious heritage of the region.
The chapel has been listed as historical monuments since 8 November 1972, by ministerial decree. This protection specifically concerns the building itself, identified under cadastre D 41. Owned by the municipality of Domfront-en-Champagne, it is referenced in the Mérimée base under the code Insee 72119, attached to the Sarthe and the district of Mamers.
Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, highlight its importance in the local religious landscape. Although little architectural detail is specified in the texts, its inscription bears witness to its heritage value. The chapel is located at the approximate address 5072 La Moinerie, according to GPS coordinates, with a precision deemed very satisfactory (note 8/10).
