Origin and history

The chapel Saint-Claude de La Bâtie des Vigneaux, located in the hamlet of La Bâtie aux Vigneaux (Hautes-Alpes), dates from the 14th century. It consists of two spans covered with a broken cradle: one dedicated to the faithful, the other dedicated to the liturgical celebration. A wooden stand of 1706, with side turns, overlooks the first span. The architectural elements (beads, doubles, bays, bell tower) are in tuff, while the bell tower-wall, decorated with arches, dominates the anterior gable.

The history of the chapel is marked by two key authorizations: in 1497, the inhabitants obtained the right to build it, and in 1518, the right to celebrate Mass there. These dates reflect its importance to the local community. Classified as a Historical Monument in 1983, it now belongs to the municipality of the Vigneaux. Its modest but characteristic architecture illustrates the rural religious heritage of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d的Azur region.

The location of the chapel, although documented (ham of La Bâtie, code INSEE 05180), remains approximate according to the available sources, with a cartographic accuracy considered "passable". Its current state (open/closed, use) is not specified in the data consulted, but its listing as Historic Monuments in 1983 underscores its heritage value.
