Origin and history
The chapel Saint-Colomban and its Calvary are located in Plounévez-Quintin, in the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany. Dating from the 16th century, this architectural ensemble is distinguished by its calvary, composed of a circular bench surrounding a massive base. A polygonal cask supports a cross decorated with carved mouldings and figurines, typical of Breton religious art of that time.
The chapel and its ordeal were registered as historical monuments by order of 7 October 1964. This ranking reflects their heritage value, both for their architecture and for their role in local religious history. Calvary, with its ornaments and sculptures, illustrates the importance of funeral and devotional monuments in 16th century Brittany.
The monument is now owned by the municipality of Plounévez-Quintin. Its exact address, Saint-Colomban, makes it possible to locate it precisely in the village. Although the sources mention a precise location considered fair, its status as a historical monument makes it a place of interest in the study of Breton religious heritage.
