Saint Del - Holy patron Dedication of the chapel.

Origin and history

The Saint-Del Chapel is a religious building located in Gerbamont, Vosges department, in the Grand Est region. Built in 1716, it is dedicated to Saint Del and is located at the place called Grand-Clozel. Its architecture combines crepe granite for most of the structure and pink sandstone for the entrance façade. Inside, it has a walled ceiling, a paved driveway with slabs and three windows on each side illuminating the nave. The altar, in sandstone decorated with carved wood, is a remarkable element.

The chapel is listed as historical monuments by order of 5 April 1993. It is owned by an association and is not open to the public. Each year, a pilgrimage takes place on 18 January, perpetuating a local tradition. Although its location is approximate (accuracy noted 6/10), it is referenced in the Merimée base under the address: 13 Route de la Chapelle, 88120 Gerbamont.

The materials used, such as granite and pink sandstone, are typical of Vosgesian religious architecture of this time. The chapel illustrates the 18th century rural Christian heritage, marked by modest but neat buildings, often linked to local cults or pilgrimages. Its inscription as a historic monument underscores its heritage importance, despite its closure to the public.
