Chapelle Saint-Expedit du Soubouche d'Arbonne

Origin and history

The Chapel Saint-Expedit du Soubouche d'Arbonne is a religious monument located in the commune of Saint-Philippe. This type of building, often modest, bears witness to popular devotion and local religious practices. Chapels dedicated to specific saints, such as Saint Expedit, were common in rural areas, serving as places of prayer and gathering for the inhabitants.

In isolated areas like Saint-Philippe, chapels played a central role in community life. They marked the landscape while offering a space of worship and sociability. Their construction generally reflected the spiritual needs and resources available to the local people, but it was not always possible to date their construction precisely.
