Origin and history
The chapel Saint-Jacques is a religious building located in Rostrenen, in the Côtes-d'Armor department, Brittany. Built in the 16th century, it preserves part of its original structure, as well as a bas-relief of the Passion, probably from an ancient calvary. This monument illustrates the Breton religious architecture of the Renaissance, marked by local influences and strong Christian symbolism.
Classified as historical monuments by order of 15 March 1909, the chapel Saint-Jacques bears witness to the importance of religious heritage in this region. His bas-relief, representing scenes of the Passion, suggests a link with the artistic and devotional traditions of the time. The chapel, owned by the commune, remains a preserved example of the architectural and spiritual heritage of Breton.
The location of the chapel at 10 Rue des Trois Frères Quelen in Rostrenen, and its ranking among historical monuments underline its heritage value. Although little detail is available on its past uses, its state of conservation and decorative elements make it a remarkable site. Available sources, such as Wikipedia and Monumentum, confirm its protected status and membership in the network of Breton religious buildings.
