Chapelle Saint-Pierre (cad. AZ 35): Order of 27 April 1972

Origin and history

The chapel Saint-Pierre de Peynier is a religious monument located in the commune of Peynier, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Dating from the 11th and 12th centuries, it illustrates the medieval architectural heritage of this period, marked by the expansion of religious constructions in the Provencal countryside. At that time, rural chapels played a central role in the lives of local communities.

They served not only as places of worship, but also as gathering points for the inhabitants, reflecting the social and religious organization of the region. Their construction was often linked to the development of local seigneuries or community initiatives, although the specific sources for this chapel remain limited.
