Chapelle Saint-Pierre : inscription by order of 6 October 1925

Origin and history

La Chapelle Saint-Pierre d'Avallon is a former church in the Yonne department, Burgundy-Franche-Comté. It is located in the city centre, adjacent to the south side of the collegiate Saint-Lazare. Its architecture is characterized by a unique nave covered with domical vaults with ivy, and its south side is divided between a trade on the ground floor and an exhibition room on the floor.

The building was listed as historic monuments by order of 6 October 1925. Today, the chapel belongs to the commune of Avallon. Its north side, blind, reflects its urban and architectural integration with the neighbouring collegiate. The chapel thus illustrates the medieval religious heritage reused in a contemporary context.

Available sources such as Wikipedia and Monumentum confirm its status as a protected monument and its precise location at 15 Rue Bocquilot. The chapel is part of the list of historical monuments of the Yonne, highlighting its heritage importance in the region.
