Origin and history
Sainte-Anne-de-Goiron Chapel, also known as Sainte-Marie-de-Valbonnette, is a religious monument located in the communes of La Roque-d'Anthéron and its surroundings. Built between the 11th and 13th centuries, it embodies the medieval Provencal architecture of this period. Its history is marked by its classification as Historic Monument by decree of 2 June 1970, stressing its heritage importance.
The chapel is today owned by the commune of La Roque-d'Anthéron, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department (code Insee 13084). Although its exact location is reported to be of poor accuracy (level 5 out of 10), it remains a point of historical and cultural interest for the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. His former name, Sainte-Marie-de-Valbonnette, evokes a possible origin related to a place or prior Marian dedication.
Available sources, including Monumentum and Merimée data, indicate that the chapel is protected as historical monuments, with a cadastral reference (C 776). No information is provided on its current accessibility, whether visitation, room rental or accommodation. The Creative Commons license associated with a photograph suggests a documentary and tourist interest for this site.
