Origin and history

The Château de Rosières, located in the commune of Saint-Seine-sur-Vingeanne in Côte-d'Or, is a monument dating back to the 15th and 17th centuries. Its oldest parts, such as the door and the small enclosure tower, date back to the 15th century, while other elements, such as a building body, were added in the 17th century. This castle thus illustrates the architectural evolution between the Middle Ages and the modern era, typical of the Burgundian buildings of this period.

The castle was partially classified and inscribed under the title of Historic Monuments by two separate decrees: an inscription in 1927 covering most of the castle (excluding classified parts), followed by a classification in 1930 for specific elements such as the 15th century gate, the main building body, and a corner tower. These protections emphasize its heritage importance, especially for its medieval remains and its classic additions.

Although available sources (Wikipedia, Monumentum) mention its existence and precise location in the Côte-d'Or department (region Burgundy-Franche-Comté), little information details its specific history or its former owners. The castle now seems associated with potential uses such as visiting, renting rooms or guest rooms, but these aspects are not confirmed by current data.

The location of the castle, noted as 'passable' (level 5/10) on Monumentum, corresponds to the approximate address of the Ferme de Rosière in Saint-Seine-sur-Vingeanne. This site is part of a territory marked by a rural and seigneurial history, where castles often played a central role in the local social and economic organization, especially between the Middle Ages and the modern era.
