Origin and history
The Château du Périneau-Verrières is a country house built at the end of the eighteenth century, more precisely in 1784, by Bardoul, a pupil of architect Gabriel. Located in Trélazé, in the department of Maine-et-Loire, this castle retains its original plan: a house organized between a courtyard and a French garden. This type of architecture reflects the classical influences of the time, combining symmetry and elegance.
In the 19th century, the park was transformed into an English garden, marking a change in landscape tastes. The house itself experienced subsequent additions, although the facades and roofs of the 18th century were preserved. These elements, listed as historical monuments by order of 13 October 2003, testify to the heritage importance of the site.
The castle is associated with Michel Bardoul de la Bigotière, architect who designed the house. Its recent inscription among historical monuments underlines the desire to protect this architectural heritage, representative of bourgeois residences in the Angelvin region on the eve of the French Revolution.
