Origin and history

The church of Notre-Dame de la Visitation de Montech, located in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in the Occitanie region, is a religious building built between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The nave, composed of five spans and ending with a polygonal bedside, was started in the 14th century and completed in the following century. This monument thus illustrates an architectural transition between two medieval periods, with influences specific to the region.

The bell tower, characteristic of local architecture, is built of bricks and dates from the mid-15th century. Although the arrow was rearranged much later, this structure retains a marked regional style. The church is classified as Historic Monument by order of 30 June 1910, emphasizing its heritage importance. Today it belongs to the municipality of Montech and remains a testimony of the religious and architectural history of the region.

Available sources, including Monumentum, specify that the exact address of the building is 5 Church Street in Montech. The monument, open to visit, is part of a historical context where parish churches played a central role in community life, both spiritually and socially. Their construction often reflected local resources and know-how, as evidenced by the use of brick for the bell tower.
