Origin and history

The church of Saint-Wandrille du Pecq is a classical Catholic religious building erected between 1739 and 1742 in the town of Pecq (Yvelines). It replaces an old church closed in 1720 for old age. The works, awarded in 1730 to a certain Sieur Armand after rejecting Gaudart's plans, began in 1739. The building was opened to worship in 1745, although not oriented according to traditional cannons. Its architecture is distinguished by an elongated plan with three naves, a false vault in anse-de-panier, and a facade adorned with Tuscan pilasters. A side bell tower overcomes the whole.

Between 1880 and 1886, a restoration campaign, supervised by architects Choret and Blondel, mainly concerned vaults. This work aims to preserve the structure, which has already been classified as historical monuments since a decree of 28 October 1965. The church, owned by the commune of Pecq, bears the date of 1742 on its façade, recalling its initial completion.

The interior furniture and decorative elements are not detailed in the available sources, but the building remains a major testimony of 18th-century religious architecture in Île-de-France. Its inscription in the title of historical monuments underlines its heritage importance, both for its classical style and for its history linked to local parish life. The exact location, 53 Rue de Paris, confirms its anchoring in the urban fabric of Pecq.
