Origin and history
The Sainte-Geneviève church of Sainte-Geneviève is a religious building built in the 12th century. Located in the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle, in the Grand Est region, it embodies the Romanesque architecture typical of this period. His apse and choir, inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 29 October 1926, testify to his local heritage importance.
The location of the church at 1 Place Monsignor Thouvenin is considered satisfactory (note 7/10). Owned by the commune, it is part of a historical context where parish churches played a central role in the social and spiritual life of the villages. These buildings served not only as places of worship, but also as community landmarks, organizing the rhythms of life around religious festivals and gatherings.
Available data from Monumentum and the Merimée archives indicate that the church is still associated with the municipality of Sainte-Geneviève (code Insee 54474). Although its current use (visits, rentals, accommodation) is not detailed in the sources, its status as a Historic Monument guarantees its preservation as a key element of the Lorrain heritage of the Middle Ages.
