Origin and history

Saint-Thomas de Vedène Church is a religious building built between 1760 and 1764, following a joint decision of the chapter, the vice-legate, the local lord and the community of Vedène. This collective project reflects the importance of the church in the social and spiritual life of the commune at that time. The building, of sober and functional style, embodies the 18th century Provencal religious architecture, marked by a desire to modernize and embellish places of worship.

Ranked as a Historic Monument by order of 28 December 1984, the church has benefited from renovations to improve its accessibility. The first developments, completed in August 1993, included the South and West Parvis, which was converted into a vehicle parking space during the ceremonies. These changes illustrate the continuous adaptation of heritage to contemporary needs, while preserving its historical character.

Located at 45 Montée de l'Église in Vedène, in the department of Vaucluse, the church belongs to the commune and remains a central place for the inhabitants. Its classification as a Historic Monument highlights its architectural value and its role in local history. Available sources, such as Wikipedia and the Merimée base, confirm its protected heritage status and its precise location in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.
