Henri Colboc - Architect Designer of the modern church

Origin and history

The Church of Christ-Resuscité, located avenue Suzanne-Buisson in Bondy (Seine-Saint-Denis), was built in 1965 to meet the needs of a growing population. The bishopric of Paris, noting in 1963 that the church of Saint-Pierre was too remote and narrow, decided to erect this new place of worship in the northern parts of the city, in the heart of the Suzanne Buisson residence.

Designed by architect Henri Colboc, this modern-style church is distinguished by the use of various materials: concrete, metal, brick and wood. It includes a main hall of 935 m2, a meeting room of 280 m2, as well as a meadow and a presbytery. Its sober architecture, with a flat roof, reflects the constructive trends of the post-war period.

The church plays a central role in local life, bringing together about a thousand parishioners from 90 different nationalities. In October 2017, she welcomed the relics of Saint Thérèse de Lisieux, marking an important spiritual event for the Catholic community of Bondy.
