Origin and history

Saint-Martin de Méry-Corbon Church is a Catholic building located in the town of Méry-Corbon, a commune in the department of Calvados in Normandy. Mainly from the second half of the 11th century for the nave, from the 12th century for the choir, and having undergone modifications in the 18th century, it embodies several architectural periods. His choir and nave have been protected under the Historic Monuments since 1926 and 1946, respectively, attesting to his heritage value.

The nave, partially built in the 11th century, was redesigned in the 18th century, while the older choir dates back to the 12th century. These elements reflect stylistic developments and liturgical needs throughout the centuries. The church, owned by the commune, remains a testimony of local religious and architectural history, integrated into the Norman cultural landscape.

Available sources, such as the Monumental Statistics of the Calvados d'Arcisse de Caumont (1867), underline its historical importance. Although little detail is provided on sponsors or artisans, its listing in the Historic Monuments confirms its role in the regional heritage. The GPS coordinates and the precise address (12 Place Saint-Martin) allow to locate it with good accuracy, thus facilitating its discovery by visitors.
