Origin and history

The Collège de Molhet de Padern is a religious monument located in the commune of Padern in the Occitan region. Although its name and location are attested, the available sources do not specify its construction period or the details of its architectural or spiritual history. Its collegiate status suggests that it was once attached to a chapter of canons, but no further information is available to date.

In the historical context of medieval and modern Occitania, collegiate women often played a central role in the religious and social life of villages. They served as places of worship, reception for pilgrims, and sometimes as a local administrative centre. Padern, like many rural communes in the region, has probably seen its religious heritage included in this framework, although the archives specific to this monument are lacking.
