Origin and history
The Collège Saint-Martin de Trôo is a former church in the commune of Troo, Loir-et-Cher (centre-val region of Loire). Built between the 12th and 15th centuries, it illustrates medieval religious architecture, with a Latin cross structure and a tower on the transept. Its western portal, adorned with columns with Romanesque capitals, bears witness to its 12th century stylistic heritage.
Ranked as historical monuments in 1862, the college also served as a parish church. In the 18th century, Jacques Julien Gasnier held the position of canon, stressing his active role in local religious life. The building, owned by the commune, preserves a Romanesque gate and Gothic elements, reflecting architectural evolutions over centuries.
The available sources (Wikipedia, Monumentum) confirm its heritage importance, with references to its early ranking and its precise location in the department. The collegiate church remains a notable example of the French collegiate church, associated with the cult of Saint Martin de Tours and the religious history of the region.
