Origin and history
Trégenteur's justice column, located in Guégon in Morbihan, is an emblematic monument of the sixteenth century. It was 3.50 metres high and 1.70 metres wide, and once stood in front of the local church gate. It bears a shield with the arms of the family of Tregarantec (or Trégaranteur), stressing its link with this noble lineage.
Ranked Historic Monument since 1928, the column has been moved from its original location. Its current location, at 15 Rue de la Columne de Justice, remains approximate based on available data. The monument, owned by the commune, bears witness to the judicial and symbolic practices of the late medieval period in Brittany.
The accuracy of its location is considered poor (note 5/10), and its current state is not detailed in the sources. The column illustrates the importance of local seigneurial families, such as the Tregarantec, in the social and judicial organization of the region in the sixteenth century.
