Origin and history

Le Cordon des Druides is a megalithic alignment located in Landéan, in the forest of Fougères, Ille-et-Vilaine. This site consists of three sets of quartzite blocks: the first, 250 metres long, has 57 blocks aligned on a south-west/north-west axis. Stone heights range from 0.50 meters to 2 meters, with irregular shapes.

The second series, parallel to the first, spans 40 metres with 8 blocks, while the third, shorter (25 metres), consists of 7 blocks oriented northwest/southeast. These remains may belong to a second alignment. The site, classified as a historical monument in 1946 with the dolmen next to the Pierre Courcoulée, bears witness to the megalithic importance of the region.

Le Cordon des Druides is also known for its contemporary use: the program Joueur du Grenier has made several videos there since the installation of its premises in Fougères. This monument illustrates both the prehistoric Breton heritage and its modern cultural re-appropriation.
