Pavillon de Cornevent (rests) (Box A 727): entry by order of 21 February 1973

Origin and history

The Cornevent Pavilion, located in Vernaison in the Rhône department, is a monument of which today only remains remains. These remains, although partial, were recognized for their heritage value, leading to their registration in the inventory of Historic Monuments by order of 21 February 1973. The site is now owned by the municipality of Vernaison, suggesting a local interest in its preservation and development.

The information available on this pavilion remains limited, but its official inscription indicates that it probably represented a significant architectural or historical element in the region. Monuments of this type, often linked to seigneurial residences, madnesses or hunting lodges, played a role in the social and landscape organization of rural or peri-urban territories. In Vernaison, as in other municipalities in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, these buildings reflected the economic and cultural dynamics of their time, marked by the influence of local elites or surrounding agricultural activities.
