Origin and history

La Croix de Saint-Jacques is a historical monument located at Perray-en-Yvelines, in the department of Yvelines. It was used to mark the limit of the generality of Paris, a former administrative district under the Ancien Régime. Its location and function bear witness to the territorial divisions of the past.

This cross has been the subject of several interventions over the centuries. It was restored in 1874 by Baron Arthur de Rothschild, as evidenced by an inscription. Around 1950, the limestone obelisk was redone, and its location was changed around 1980. These changes reflect efforts to preserve and adapt local heritage.

The Cross of Santiago is surrounded by flower-delysed pillars, a royal symbol that reinforces its historical character. Registered as a historical monument by decree of 15 May 1952, it now belongs to the commune. Its location, although modified, remains a point of interest for local and regional history.
