Heritage classified

The terter, the dolmen and the ciste du Penher, shown in the cadastre of the municipality section AC parcels No 38, 39, 75 and 79, represented on the plan attached to the decree: inscription by order of 24 July 2023

Origin and history

The dolmen and the ciste de Penher, located in La Trinité-sur-Mer in Morbihan, are megalithic remains dating from Neolithic times. These funeral structures, typical of this period, illustrate the rituals and beliefs of local prehistoric societies. Their preservation allows us to study the construction techniques and social organization of the period.

The site, including the terter, the dolmen and the ciste, was officially protected by a registration order on 24 July 2023. This recognition underscores its archaeological and heritage importance. The parcels concerned are listed in the cadastre of the commune, ensuring their conservation for future generations.

In Neolithic, Brittany was marked by an agropastoral society where megalithic monuments played a central role in funeral and spiritual practices. These collective buildings reflected a community organization and advanced mastery of stone size and transportation techniques.

The location of the site, although specified by GPS coordinates and an approximate address, remains of limited accuracy (level 5/10 depending on the sources). This can be explained by the rural and ancient nature of the place, where modern landmarks are less precise.

No information is available on the accessibility of the site to the public, its tourist purpose or related services such as guided tours. Data focuses on its legal protection and archaeological value.

The sources mentioned, including Monumentum, confirm the recent inscription of the monument, but do not provide additional details on its history, searchers or associated discoveries.
