Origin and history

The Dolmen de la Pierre du Trésor is a megalithic monument located in Landéan, in the forest of Fougères, Ille-et-Vilaine. Dating from Neolithic, it now presents itself as ruins, with a large quartzite cover table measuring 3.70 m long, 2.30 m wide and 0.80 m thick. Only one orthostate remains in place, surrounded by scattered blocks, vestige of a room whose width was 1.62 m in the 19th century. Smuggling probably altered his original condition.

Ranked a historic monument by decree of 19 December 1946, this simple dolmen illustrates the funeral architecture of the Neolithic period in Brittany. Its location in the Fougères forest and its present state make it a partial but valuable testimony of the construction practices and techniques of this period. Archaeological sources, such as L. Collin (1931) or Jacques Briard (2004), document its importance in the local megalithic heritage.

The site is mentioned in regional inventories, notably in the book The Megaliths of the Department of Ille-et-Vilaine (2004), which places it in the wider context of similar sites in the region. Although its access and visit are not detailed, its official protection underscores its heritage value. The available data are mainly from Wikipedia, Monumentum and specialized archaeological publications.
