Dolmen de Lilia (cad. O 1240) : Order of 3 July 1959
Origin and history
The dolmen of Lilia, located in Plouguerneau in Finistère, is a covered alley dated Neolithic. Ranked a historical monument by decree of 3 July 1959, this megalithic site consists of six slabs and a cover table of migmatic granite. Oriented south-southwest/north-north-east, it is 7.85 metres long with an average width of 1.20 metres, with a cell of 0.80 metres wide. The cover table was partially tilted in the center of the room.
Excavations revealed significant artifacts, including cut flints and neolithic pottery studs, as well as a copper age tison, discovered by soil erosion. These findings attest to the prolonged use of the site for ritual or funeral purposes. The dolmen, owned by the commune of Plouguerneau, is located precisely at 80 Kreiz Ker, according to the GPS coordinates available.
Lilia covered walkway is part of the Breton megalithic landscape, characteristic of the Neolithic constructions of the region. These monuments, often linked to collective burial practices, reflect the social and spiritual organization of the communities of the time. Their preservation, like that of Lilia, allows us to study the construction techniques and beliefs of prehistoric societies in Brittany.
