Origin and history

The Dolmen de Mané-Ven-Guen is a megalithic monument located in the commune of Baden, Brittany. This type of structure, characteristic of Neolithic, was generally used as a collective burial or place of worship for local prehistoric populations. Although its exact construction period is not specified in the available sources, it is part of the tradition of Breton dolmens, often dated between 4500 and 2000 BC.

J.C. Dolmens, like Mané-Ven-Guen's, bear witness to the funeral practices and beliefs of neolithic societies. They were often erected near inhabited areas or passageways, playing a central role in the spatial and symbolic organization of communities.

In Brittany, these monuments are particularly numerous, reflecting a dense human occupation and a rich megalithic culture during prehistory.
